Peter Stone's Environmental Commitment
The Peter Stone Company feels an undying commitment to the environment as well as the community. As a company, they feel it their duty to be as environmentally sound as possible.
In today's corporate world we face an overwhelming amount of waste paper. The bulkiness of this waste paper makes it difficult to store or transport. Peter Stone has come up with a solution to the problem of waste paper management. All packing material is 100% post consumer recycled paper. By shredding the waste paper they have solved two problems: the disposal of waste paper, and an environmentally friendly way to eliminate the use of ozone damaging Styrofoam peanuts. If Styrofoam peanuts are received in a package sent to Peter Stone they would of course reuse them.
Another paper product reused at the Peter Stone Company is cardboard. Every cardboard box that that is received is used again. If the boxes are clean and undamaged they will be sent out with orders and rep. kits. If the box has been marked or damaged, it is used for inter office storage, and if they can't be reused they are placed in a container to be shipped to cardboard recycling center. |
Peter Stone not only recycles on an industrial basis, but on a personal one as well. Bottles, cans and plastic jugs used by staff during the course of the day are not thrown away, but collected and taken to a recycling center.
The community, as well as the environment, is very important to the Peter Stone Company. Empty ink cartridges from ink jet and laser printers are donated to local schools, where they are then sent out to a recycling firm who in return donates new computers to that school. Broken electronics and computer equipment are discarded. They are donated to a rehabilitation center, which teaches people with disabilities how to repair them, and are then sold by the center to raise funds.
An international company, Peter Stone tries to do their part everywhere they are in operation. The recycle/reuse program is not only used state side. The Thailand offices mirror the US offices in their recycling efforts, responsibly reusing metals, plastic and paper. Peter Stone feels that by educating their employees and taking intra-company action they are doing their part to keep the earth clean.
We understand that doing this is not an option...but a way of life! |
